All 10 Batavia Bowling League’s men’s pennants sides remain in contention for finals with the season at the halfway mark, although Northampton may find the going tougher than most.

Geraldton Red brought home a a solid 5-1 (59-49) win from their trip to play the league leaders at Mullewa last Saturday, extending their winning run to six and moving them to second on score percentage and within a point of top spot.

Denison White revived some hope for their season with a thrilling one-shot aggregate 5-1 victory over in-form Geraldton Gold.

The Seagulls performed worse than expected in the first round but are just nine points away from fourth and a bold run home would improve matters.

A win would have moved the Golds to top and while the loss is telling, the side have good balance with stars like Shane Giudice-Nairn on board and still rate as true title contenders.

Wonthella Gold rebounded strongly from a disappointing return against sister side Maroon last week to beat Denison Blue at home, taking all available points and moving to fourth from sixth.

They are level on 32 points with Geraldton Red and Blue, although have a worse percentage than both, and a point behind Mullewa.

Geraldton Blue proved the better in their clash with Maroon on the slick Wonthella synthetic turf, coming away with five points to one and a healthy 19-shot aggregate differential.

The Rams caused the upset of the round with a 6-0, 38-shot aggregate win over Wonthella Green to breathe life into the season with nine home and away fixtures to go.

The result moves Northampton to 15 points for the year, and while that is 17 points away from fourth place, the back half of the campaign will provide opportunities.
