A female swimmer suffered minor injuries after being bitten by a shark in WA’s north on Saturday.

The incident occurred near Kurrajong Camp in the Shire of Exmouth, about 14 hours north of Perth, about 10.15am, according to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, and involved a 1.5 metre long shark.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution in the area and follow any beach closures.

It comes after a local electrician was attacked earlier this week whilst foil boarding in the area.

Dave Daniell was attacked by a shark estimated to be 3 metres long, 15kms off the coast between Graveyards and Hunters beach — leaving a large bite mark on the back of the board.

“I fell off the board, and as I was climbing back up on the board, the shark came flying in,” Mr Daniell said.

“I managed to get my leg out of the way as it bit down. . . I clung to the board as it took a bite and then I managed to try get back up to my feet again.”

Shark sightings should be reported to Water Police on 9442 8600.
