Northampton police say two Singaporean tourists are lucky to have received only minor injuries after a quad bike they were riding rolled in Sand Dunes near Horrocks Beach today.

Police said the accident happened about 11.30am at Bowes River when the pair rode over a small embankment, causing the bike to flip.

The driver, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to Northampton Hospital with unknown injuries before being transferred to Geraldton Hospital.

The passenger, a 22-year-old woman, was also taken to Northampton Hospital suffering bruising and soreness.

Officer-in-charge at Northampton Police Station, Sgt Matt Donkin, said the Christmas season was a busy time for four-wheel-drivers and other recreational motorists in the area.

“We see an influx of both recreational and off-road vehicles at Horrocks and Lucky Bay around the festive season, and it’s a timely reminder for people to be careful.”
