Mullewa District High School was put in lockdown and six people were charged after an incident in which a staff member was injured today.

Mid West-Gascoyne District Police Superintendent Mike Bell said police attended the school following a “dust up”.

“There are more enquiries ongoing and I’ll be looking at additional resources to ensure that calm is maintained in Mullewa,” he said.

A Department of Education spokeswoman confirmed one staff member had sought medical attention, although the extent of the injuries was unknown.

“The school went into lockdown to protect staff and students for a period of time while the incident was unfolding,” she said.

She said the school would open as usual tomorrow.
