Dongara’s South Beach has been closed following the sighting of a 4m tiger shark about 9am today.

Officer-in-charge at Dongara Police Station, Grant Rosman, said the shark was attracted by a whale carcass that washed ashore at the weekend.

“A surfer spotted the shark within the breaking area, so it was quite close to shore,” he said.

Shire staff are working to remove the carcass and the beach will remain closed until further notice.
