Rhonda Caroline Papertalk: Jewellery thief pleads guilty to stealing $16k of rings, pendants from truck

A woman has admitted to stealing jewellery worth more than $16,000 from a delivery truck, as well as making a number of fraudulent transactions and being in possession of stolen clothing. Rhonda Caroline Papertalk, 35, appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to stealing a satchel containing jewellery from a transport truck making deliveries. Police previously said at about 9.45am on Wednesday, July 5 a delivery truck was parked in a loading zone at the intersection of Foreshore Drive and Cathedral Avenue. The driver was undertaking delivery duties when Ms Papertalk entered the vehicle and stole a satchel of diamond rings and pendants. The court was told the stolen jewellery was valued at $16,218. Papertalk pleaded guilty to stealing from a place of deposit used for custody of goods in transit, as well as four counts of gaining benefit by fraud and possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property. The court was told Papertalk fraudulently purchased Telstra credit, two cans of Coke and a phone and SIM card worth $50, and was found in possession of stolen items in July. Papertalk has previously pleaded guilty to two counts of stealing, a home burglary, unlawful assault, possessing cannabis, disorderly behaviour and criminal damage. She was remanded in custody and will reappear in court on Monday, December 18.
