His beloved fishing rod will be missing when former West Coast Eagles star Mark LeCras engages in his favourite pastime this coming week — catching up with country folk.

LeCras, who booted 441 goals for the Eagles in 219 games, will attend the Mingenew Mid West Expo on Wednesday and Thursday.

“So looking forward to it,” LeCras, three weeks shy of 33, said.

“I love the country, its people and talking topics which matter to them. I’ve been to a Wagin Woolorama but not a Mingenew Expo. It will be great.”

Reared in Cervantes, where his father Peter and brother Brent are involved in crayfishing, LeCras and his dad are developing a property at Gingin.

“I always wanted to get into the country lifestyle after footy,” he said.

LeCras, who was hailed a hero in June when he helped rescue two people from a burning car, will be in the Bankwest tent.
