Mitchell Darcy Phillips pleads guilty to exposing himself in Dongara pub, driving without tyre and door

A man who pulled down his pants and exposed himself at a pub has copped a fine. Mitchell Darcy Phillips also pleaded guilty in Geraldton Magistrates Court to driving a car missing tyre and a driver-side door. The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to eight charges including indecent and obscene acts in public, failing to leave a licensed premise when ordered, driving an unlicensed vehicle, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended licence. On August 13, 2022, Phillips approached a patron at the Dongara Hotel, pulled his pants down and lifted his shirt, exposing his genitals. After lifting his pants back up, he then exposed himself for a second time to a female patron. After refusing to leave the venue, police had to be called to remove Phillips, who yelled abuse and slurs as he was forced out. On September 26, 2022, Phillips drove a Toyota LandCruiser with a missing side door and front tyre for at least 2.7km along Kailis Drive in Port Denison while on a suspended licence and without a seatbelt. Phillips’ lawyer Kate Fry said her client recognised that he had issues with alcohol and was seeking treatment for ADHD, which he had been diagnosed with at an early age. Magistrate Mark Millington acknowledged that Phillips had pleaded guilty at an early stage and realised he needed to make a change. “You’ve put your hand up and said you need to do something it,” Mr Millington said. Phillips was given an eight-month community-based order and was fined $2700.
