Geraldton bypass land grab uncertain
Rural property owners in four municipalities face an uncertain future while they wait to find out whether part of their land is to be resumed by Main Roads.
Member for the Agricultural Region Laurie Graham said the four local councils were yet to agree on a preferred route for the proposed Geraldton bypass road.
“Main Roads haven’t given them enough detail to help them decide which option they would prefer — the proposed route still needs a bit of meat on it,” he said.
“It’s long-term planning and how long term it is, is still up in the air.”
Mr Graham made this remark after meeting local government representatives from Northampton, Chapman Valley, Geraldton and Northampton on Monday.
