Gascoyne Food Festival on again this August and September, with tickets now on sale

A world-class gastronomic experience is again being plated up in the heart of WA’s food bowl — the Gascoyne — later this year. The 2024 edition of the Gascoyne Food Festival has been confirmed, scheduled to take place in August and September this year, celebrating the region’s bounty of produce, seafood, flavours and cultural heritage. Gascoyne Food Council chair Chris Higham said the festival was a food lover’s paradise and tickets were now on sale. The region’s fishing, aquaculture, agriculture and pastoral industries produces an annual gross output of $1.196 billion. “From exclusive long table dinners and lunches to community gatherings, each event offers a unique opportunity to indulge in the finest local fare and immerse oneself in Gascoyne’s vibrant food culture,” Ms Higham said. The food festivities will be kicked off with the Carnarvon Long Table Lunch on Saturday, August 3, at an iconic banana plantation followed by events at Bullara Station (Saturday, August 10), Carnarvon’s Gwoondwardu Mia Centre (Friday, August 16), Carnarvon Fascine and Gascoyne Junction Pub (Saturday, August 17), Mount Augustus Tourist Park (Saturday, August 31) and Exmouth Whalebone (Friday, September 6). “With an exciting line-up of culinary events scheduled throughout August and September, the festival promises an unforgettable gastronomic experience for attendees of all ages,” Ms Higham said. Gascoyne Development Commission CEO Timothy Bray said it was important to celebrate the pastoralists, farmers and producers who worked tirelessly to feed Australia. “This event allows attendees to taste the local cuisine and gives them the chance to appreciate where it comes from. Our region has a vast agriculture and aquaculture industry and is a significant beef producer with more than 50 active pastoral stations,” he said. “It is incredible to learn that more than 75 per cent of the land in the Gascoyne is pastoral leases. Stations such as Bullara located in the Exmouth Gulf have combined their working cattle stations with tourism, giving visitors a chance to experience the ultimate outback stay.” Bullara Station will be hosting an exclusive long-table dinner at its historic 120-year-old woolshed, with head chef Toby Fisher and pastry chef Maree Fisher — both trained in French cuisine at a Michelin-star level — curating the menu. “Bullara has become famous for our outback hospitality and dinner experiences and we’re looking forward to turning up the heat for this French-inspired long table dinner,” Toby Fisher said.
