Allstars 1 booked their ticket to the Katanning Netball Association A-grade grand final on Saturday, defeating top rivals Kojonup 1 in the qualifying final.
The defending premiers have remained the side to beat all season, and showed their mettle once again in the qualifying final at the Katanning Leisure Centre on Saturday, defeating Kojonup 55-42.
Lara Rodney and Melita Davey were in the circle for Allstars in the opening quarter, shooting a combined 14 goals to give their side a five-goal advantage by the first change.
Sheridan Kowald and Kojonup captain Nadine Milne worked hard to match their intensity, adding 11 goals to their haul in the second term to keep their side in the game.
By half-time, Allstars held an eight-goal advantage, and Kojonup put the foot down in the third to close the gap to five goals with only one quarter left to play.
However, the consistency that has kept Allstars ahead all season shone through in the final term, and they walked off winners 55-42 after managing to maintain their lead.
In the elimination final, Olympians 1 recorded a confident win to earn a spot in the preliminary final and continue their campaign, working hard to recover from a low-scoring start and keep their advantage through the second half as they downed Dumbleyung 1, 46-27.
Olympians defeated Allstars 51-41 in the A-reserves qualifying final, leaving Allstars to fight Kojonup in the preliminary final after Kojonup defeated Broomehill 39-23 in the elimination final, knocking Broomehill out of the finals race.
In the B-grade competition, Olympians won the qualifying final by the skin of their teeth, taking the win 44-43 over a determined Dumbleyung side.
Kia Ora played hard to record a confident 52-47 victory over Kojonup in the elimination final, and will go up against Dumbleyung for a chance at the grand final.
In the C-grade competition, Allstars crushed Cardinals Phoenix in the qualifying final, walking off winners 63-26 to emphatically claim their place as the competition’s top side, sailing through to the grand final match.
Olympians notched a similarly confident win over Kia Ora, winning the elimination final 49-20.
The teams will face-off next Saturday in the preliminary final, fighting for the last coveted spot in the grand finals.
