Luke Kidgell has grown into quite the online sensation.

The Aussie comedian’s popularity has risen over the years thanks to social media, with his content on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok grabbing people’s attention. Clips of his live performances have even now reached international audiences.

Kidgell is bringing his brand of comedy to Geraldton this month, with his new show Good Intentions, and this isn’t the first time he’s performed in the Mid West city.

Kidgell has some fond memories of his brief time in Geraldton — none more so than the Rubik’s Cube toilets on the foreshore.

“Last time at Geraldton was great. I’m very excited to see those Rubik’s Cube toilets again ... other places have nice weather, but no other places have Rubik’s Cube toilets,” he said.

Kidgell has taken his latest comedy tour global, visiting Japan and North America.

He is well aware he owes a lot of his success to the internet.

“I was kind of surprised when people from other countries started watching me ... so I guess ... I can thank the internet for all that,” Kidgell said.

His show involves audience participation and “what I’ve been up to on my travels of the last year”.

“Kind of like what it’s like endlessly touring the world all the time,” he said.

Kidgell hopes to deliver “a lot of fun and a lot of laughs” to his Geraldton audience.

“I love going out to the small towns. I don’t know why other people don’t. I mean, if people want to come to the show, I’m happy to perform anywhere, really. I think it’s so much fun. The people are super appreciative.”

Kidgell’s Good Intentions show at the Queens Park Theatre starts at 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 22.
