Brett ‘Kaos’ Pechey: Notorious bikie pleads guilty from behind bars to driving under influence of meth

Notorious former Bandidos boss Brett “Kaos” Pechey has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of methamphetamine, politely addressing the magistrate as “Miss”. The West Australian revealed earlier this month that the former Bandidos boss was charged with three counts of breaching a family violence restraining order following an alleged high-speed police chase. Pechey also faces one count each of reckless driving, no authority to drive and failing to stop in circumstances of aggravation. On Thursday, the heavily tattooed outlaw fronted Perth Magistrates Court via videolink from Albany Regional Prison. The 37-year-old represented himself as he admitted driving with the illicit drug in his system in Mirrabooka on December 21. Magistrate Sandra De Maio first asked him how to pronounce his surname and he confirmed it sounded like the fruit. Asked if he understood the charge, Pechey replied: “Yes I do, miss”. The magistrate was told it was his second offence of this type. “I’d like to plead guilty please, miss,” he said. Pechey was fined the minimum $1250, which Ms De Maio said was a lot but could be paid off while in custody. He must also pay about $500 in court costs and lab analysis fees, and was disqualified from driving for six months, which the magistrate explained would apply from the day he got out of jail. “OK, thank you, miss,” he replied. Pechey, once Queensland’s most wanted man, will next front court over the alleged FVRO breaches and other charges on June 5. He’s had a tumultuous few months. In the early hours of January 24, a Landsdale home owned by his partner was shot at — with at least two bullets fired through the front of the property. “Shooting up houses that women and kids live in is not a victory ... scum bag move especially when they no (sic) I’m not even in the country,” he posted on Facebook in response. Prior to the shooting, Pechey was booted out of the Rock Machine bikie gang after CCTV footage of him fleeing rival Mongols bikies following an altercation at a Madeley shopping centre in early December went viral in the WA underworld. He had been promoting himself as an enforcer with the Rock Machine but a post on the gang’s Facebook page stated he was no longer a member and had been “in bad standing” since Christmas Day. “Perth chapter has new leadership and does not recognise Brett Peachy,” the January 3 post read. In 2015, he signalled his allegiance to the Middle East-dominated Brothers For Life gang and said he had converted to Islam.
