LGSHA 2026: North Albany women continue their winning streak with hard-fought result over Manypeaks

North Albany have continued their dominant start to the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association women’s A-grade season, remaining undefeated after edging out Manypeaks 1-0 in a hard fought contest in Albany on Saturday afternoon.

In round three of the Retravision women’s A-grade competition, Poppy Ford scored the only goal of the match early in the first quarter, with Redbacks coming out firing in the opening minutes to set the tone for the clash.

Despite the early setback, Peaks defence stood tall for the remainder of the game, working tirelessly to deny Redbacks further opportunities on goal.

In the final quarter Redbacks were awarded a penalty stroke, however the Peaks defence held strong and their goalkeeper produced a crucial save keeping them to only one goal for the game.

Best players for Redbacks were Cate McDonald, Beck Gillmore and Amelia Osborne while Hallee Temby, Kathryn Slattery and Georgia Stephenson impressed for Peaks.

Meanwhile in Mt Barker, the home side defended their turf in a 4-2 win over Spencer Park in the other women’s clash.

Mt Barker held a narrow 2-1 advantage at halftime and maintained their goal streak in the second half producing two more.

Goal scorers for Barker were Bella Post, Libby Morris, Ranae Parsons and Clare King.

In the men’s A-grade competition, LGSHA and North Albany played out an tight contest with a 3-3 draw on Thursday night.

Ryan Johnson scored two goals, while J.P Swart added one for LGHSA.

For Redbacks Hamish Wilkes scored once and Joshua Irvine finished the game with a double.

Manypeaks were dominant against Spencer Park winning 5-0 on Friday.

Goal scorers for Peaks were Mitch Bradbury (two), Mitchell Elley, Hayden Mills and Oliver Douglas while Ryan Johnson, Douglas and Bradbury were named in the best players.

David Wareham, Charlie Hudson and Darren Parkes led the way in defeat for Park.
