David William Crossley: Registered sex offender pleads guilty to distributing child exploitation material

A registered sex offender with a history of child exploitation material offences has pleaded guilty to distributing “image and videos” of such material and failing to comply with his reporting requirements. David William Crossley appeared in Albany Magistrates Court via video link from Casuarina Prison on Thursday, admitting to three counts of failing to comply with reporting obligations and one count of distributing child exploitation material. The 52-year-old is subject to reporting obligations as a registered sex offender, having previously been convicted of offences relating to child exploitation in 2016 and 2021. The three failures to comply with reporting obligation charges are from October 2 in Albany, and the child exploitation charge from August 7 in Tingledale within the shire of Denmark. He will next appear in Albany District Court on March 26 for a sentence mention. The serial offender was jailed in 2021 for distributing photos and videos of children as young as four in what the judge slammed as “harmful and depraved” behaviour. He was sentenced to two years in prison, backdated to September 24, 2020. Crossley was already registered on the National Child Offender System after being convicted of offences relating to child exploitation in 2016.
