The north of WA finally gets a scheduled international flight linking it to the rest of the world from June 25, 2024.

Jetstar Asia will fly two return flights a week between Broome and Singapore, providing a vital stepping stone to Asia and beyond.

It at last opens up the possibility of international visitors flying in to Singapore and connecting to the West Kimberley without doubling-back through Perth.

The seasonal flights are through the Kimberley’s dry season, between June 25 and October 26, 2024. They start again in April 2025, at the end of the wet season.

For those living in the Kimberley and Pilbara, they offer easier access to Singapore, and the world beyond, and connect to Jetstar’s extensive network out of Changi International Airport.

This regular scheduled service is the culmination of long negotiations between Broome International Airport and Jetstar Asia. It sits on the foundation of previous trial flights to Singapore in 2018 and 2019.

Craig Shaw, chief executive of Broome International Airport, says: “The number one question we are asked from our community is about the establishment of international services. I’m excited that we are now able to make this announcement along with Jetstar Asia”.

To celebrate the launch, Jetstar Asia has one-way fares from Broome to Singapore from $145, and Singaporeans can fly to Broome from $SG125. Tickets are on sale now at jetstar.com.

Jetstar Asia, a Singapore-based low-cost carrier and part of the Qantas Group, celebrates its 20th birthday later this year.

Mr Shaw has plenty of praise for Jetstar Asia and its commitment to the service.

He explains: “International connections to Broome as ‘The Gateway to the Kimberley Region’ have been a long-held ambition for the local tourism industry and the airport, and we are extremely pleased that Jetstar Asia recognises the region’s desirability as a visitor destination.

“This connectivity also brings Broome closer to the rest of the world, providing fantastic holiday and travel options for residents of the North West looking to save time and money by flying direct to Singapore, and then to any number of onward destinations.”

Changi Airport Group executive vice-president for air hub and cargo development, Mr Lim Ching Kiat, points out: “The addition of Broome expands Changi’s connectivity to eight destinations in Australia, making us the most connected international gateway to Australia.”

And Jetstar Asia chief executive John Simeone says: “Just over four hours away from Singapore, Broome is an amazing destination.

“This new route, combined with our low fares, underscores our commitment to providing customers with a diverse range of destinations and incredible travel experiences.”
