There’s something about a freshly poured, cold pint that just hits better when it comes with a view. Whether it’s watching a sunset, a quiet riverside, or cargo ships entering and leaving the port, Perth has no shortage of spots where the scenery is just as good as the beer. Here are our five favourite places to park up with a pint and take it all in.
1. Gage Roads Brew Co
Victoria Quay, Peter Hughes Dr, Fremantle
Docked right on the water at Victoria Quay, Gage Roads is about as Fremantle as it gets.
Beer is what they do best, so naturally there’s a wide selection on tap. Order from the indoor or outdoor bar, grab a long table with mates or pull up a stool at the bench, and watch the cargo ships roll in and out of the port.
Keep an eye out for live music, weekend specials, and new beers hitting the taps.

2. Bert’s, City Beach
187 Challenger Parade, City Beach
Bert’s is like a breath of fresh air for City Beach locals.
It’s the perfect mix of casual refined pub food with music on the weekends to attract the younger crowd. Meals are served in a large inside dining area as well as on the outdoor deck, with a bar serving beer on tap and wine, with cocktails and food available via QR ordering.
You can walk down for a swim after visiting and yes, you can even bring your pooch to sit outside with you.

3. Gibney
40 Marine Parade, Cottesloe
A location for an occasion. Beer aside, it’s not cheap, but when the weather’s right, it’s worth every dollar. The service is top tier, and there’s a wide selection of premium food on the menu — the oysters are not to be missed. It’s very popular among the young influencer crowd, so chances are you’ll feature in the background of someone’s Instagram story.
Your slightly improved trouser line, courtesy of a thinner wallet on the way out, will be worth it.

4. 8 Knots Tavern
110 Riverside Rd, East Fremantle
Situated along the Swan River at Aquarama Marina, 8 Knots is the kind of place you can stroll into after a walk with your dog or meet mates to watch the footy.
Keep an eye out for rotating specials and their “Chase the Ace” nights to stretch the afternoon a little longer. With cold beers, a killer view and live music on the weekends, it’s a spot that’s hard to beat for a laid-back afternoon session.

5. Clancy’s Beach Bar
195 Challenger Parade, City Beach
A well-known classic with undoubtedly one of the best views in Perth. Perfect family set-up as parents can sit with a beer while watching the kids roam between the playground, grassed area and beach. You’re not overburdened by choice, with only two beers on tap and a small selection of cocktails, the lines are short and service is quick.
Sandy feet, boardies and fur babies are all welcome, and while they technically only offer schooners, this one was too good not to make the list.
