Our full-time Travel staff will talk about travel writing and photography and we’ll all learn more about the amazing work at Kings Park.

Each finalist will receive a Canon PowerShot SX60 HS digital compact camera, thanks to Canon Australia and Camera Electronic.

Two overall Young Travel Writer winners will then be invited to join Travel Editor Stephen Scourfield, columnist and assistant Jan Bromilow and Australia’s North West chief executive Glen Chidlow on assignment in the East Kimberley from August 24-26, thanks to Australia’s North West tourism.

We will fly from Perth to Kununurra, explore the East Kimberley a little, stay in comfort in private rooms, work on stories, photographs and videos and fly back to Perth after three days and two nights away. The young writers’ work will be published in these pages and through Seven West Media’s many digital platforms.

To enter, students should:

Submit an original story of 300-400 words about a local, interstate or overseas travel experience or destination.

Include a title for the story.

Attach two separate jpeg files of their own original photographs of the destination.

Write a caption for each photograph in their email.

Include their name, year level, school, teacher’s name, school phone number.

The contest closes: Noon, Friday, June 24.
