West Coast Training Notes: Tom Barrass, Harley Reid and more as Eagles eye back-to-back wins

West Coast were all smiles as they hit the track on Monday following their win over Gold Coast. As the team prepares to chase a rare back-to-back victory, here’s what we saw at Mineral Resources Park. Barrass back at it Eagles fans were pleased to see defender Tom Barrass back out on track after missing Friday’s clash against the Suns. Barrass suffered delayed concussion symptoms off the back of a heated western derby clash, with the club announcing days after he would be unavailable for at least one round. He came out after the main group and ran some laps with veteran Dom Sheed before joining in on some uncontested skills and eventually ramping up for some basic marking drills. Sheed is in doubt after sustaining a hamstring injury at during training last week and only completed some light running. Luke Edwards progressed in his return from concussion and completed skills and marking alongside Barrass. Absent from training was luckless Harry Edwards who was subbed out with concussion after a clash with Sun’s forward Ben King in the first quarter. Under the AFL’s mandated protocols Edwards will be unavailable for the Eagles game against North Melbourne in Tasmania on Saturday. Goal-machine Jake Waterman was also a noticeable no-show along with co-captain Oscar Allen. Balls to the wall Players took full advantage of the sunshine to hone their hand-eye coordination while resting their legs. The stand out was Bailey Williams who’s juggling skills were effortless. Shuey cracks the noodle Assistant coach Luke Shuey still clearly enjoys getting involved at training and was on hand with a pool noodle to dish out some ‘encouragement’ to players as they completed ball skills. The premiership player and former captain hung up the boots last season and stepped straight into a role as stoppages coach at the club. As the Eagles worked on crumbing ground balls Shuey was on hand to whack players as they ran past, to simulate the attention they would get in a game. It clearly sounded worse than it appeared as players laughed running through him.
