WA soccer star Sam Kerr has weighed in on Princess Kate’s shock cancer diagnosis, resharing a famous musician’s post criticising people who “sensationalised a woman’s desire for privacy”.

The Matildas captain reposted American singer Halsey’s Instagram story on Saturday night, slamming the public’s reaction to Catherine’s absence.

“Hope the people and media who sensationalized a woman’s desire for privacy following a known health incident are experiencing regret and remorse,” Halsey wrote.

“And by the way, that would stand even without the terrible news of her journey.

“I understand that when you have a public life certain things like this can get out of hand. But god forbid someone needs a break for a few weeks or months, it’s no one’s business why.”

Halsey also weighed in on the unrealistic expectations placed on people in public life.

“And with respect to public life, who you are and how you’re doing when you ‘sign up for this’ is subject to change at any moment,” she said.

“Any the newly changed ‘you’ in place (for whatever amount of time; days, weeks, years) may not have the same stamina or tolerance.”

The Princess of Wales revealed on Saturday morning that her absence from public duties was due to a recent cancer diagnosis.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.”

Halsey’s post comes after Kim Kardashian copped backlash for keeping an insensitive comment up online about the Princess of Wales following her cancer diagnosis.

The reality TV star and businesswoman shared a slideshow of photos to Instagram of her in front of various backgrounds with the caption, “on my way to go find Kate”.

Since Kate’s cancer diagnosis was revealed early Saturday morning, the social media personality — boasting 364 million followers on Instagram — has been slammed for her post’s insensitivity and is yet to delete the post.
