Trainer devastated by death of Perth Cup fancy Naughty by Nature
Trainer Jason Miller and connections of Naughty By Nature have been left devastated by the news of the quality mare’s death six days before she was due to tackle the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic at Ascot.
Naughty By Nature suffered serious injuries in a paddock accident on Sunday and could not be saved.
The Trade Fair five-year-old was on track for a tilt at the Group 2 Perth Cup in January.
“She ran through a yard and ended up hitting her head on a tree,” Miller said.
“She did a fair bit of damage and had to be euthanised.
“It’s devastating for all involved.”
Naughty By Nature scored a breakthrough feature win in the Group 3 Strickland Stakes at Belmont Park in June.
She was placed in five stakes races, including the WA Oaks last year.
She won five of her 24 starts and $418,350 in prize money and bonuses.
