Andrew Brayshaw has been installed as a remarkably short-priced favourite to win his first Glendinning-Allan Medal in Saturday night’s western derby, despite a modest set of numbers against the Eagles.

The Brownlow Medal fancy is among a host of Dockers dominating the top lines of betting with bookmaker TABtouch, who have 12 Fremantle players ahead of the shortest-price Eagle.

Fremantle midfielders dominate the favourites, with Brayshaw followed by running mates Will Brodie, playing just his second derby and previous winners Caleb Serong and David Mundy.

Rory Lobb, Sean Darcy, Hayden Young, Luke Ryan, Michael Walters, Blake Acres, James Aish and Jordan Clark all considered more likely to claim the award than Andrew Gaff at $34.

Brayshaw has faced West Coast seven times for an average of 20 disposals, but has only ever kicked one goal against the cross-town rivals.

The 22-year-old averages fewer disposals against just two other clubs in the competition — Port Adelaide and the Gold Coast.

He also missed last year’s second western derby — which saw the Dockers snap an 11-game losing streak — meaning this season’s first meeting was his first-ever win against the Eagles.

Out of favour Eagles defender Jackson Nelson has been recalled to the side and could be handed a run-with role on Brayshaw in a similar vein to their first meeting this season.

Nelson kept Brayshaw to just seven first-half disposals, just two of which came in the first quarter, before the tag was shed after half-time and the midfield gun finished with 26.

Just three players in Fremantle’s team for Saturday’s clash are previous winners — Mundy, Serong and Lachie Schultz.

Schultz, who kicked two goals from 23 disposals to claim the medal in Round 3, is paying $34 to become the first player since Shannon Hurn to go back-to-back.

Hurn is the only former winner set to start for the Eagles, who will be without previous medallists in the suspended Tim Kelly, injured Elliot Yeo and retired Josh Kennedy.

The bookmaker also has Brayshaw as second-favourite in Brownlow Medal betting, behind his former teammate Lachie Neale and ahead of Melbourne star Clayton Oliver.
