Fremantle captain Alex Pearce has shaken off fresh injury concerns after his team extended their record winning streak against Brisbane on Saturday.

Pearce had Dockers’ hearts in mouths after limping off midway through the fourth quarter with what looked like a right knee complaint and was seen in discussion with the club doctors.

The 30-year-old had missed the last two games against Essendon and St Kilda with a left knee injury, while the Dockers had already lost Brennan Cox to his own knee concern in the second quarter.

Fortunately, Pearce returned to the field to help the Dockers close out the game.

Speaking after his side’s 25-point triumph over Brisbane, Pearce said there was nothing to worry about.

“Yeah, it’s all good, the docs just told me to harden up and get back out there,” he said.

“I’m fine, I was just trying to give it a rest.”

Fremantle are a game clear on top of the AFL ladder after taking down the two-time champions in convincing fashion at the Gabba.

Pearce credited his team’s performance to unselfish football as the Dockers shared the load to help take Brisbane apart.

“We knew the Lions would be fired up on their home turf and had something to prove after last week, but we had multiple guys standing up, and when we consistently play our brand of footy, we can wear teams down,” he said.

“Games are won and lost in the contest, and I feel like our tackle pressure, through that third quarter in particular, went to another level, and when you’ve got Murphy Reid and Shai Bolton running forward, it asks a lot of questions of opposition defences.”
