The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy has stopped at Uluru and Mutitjulu for a series of stunning photos ahead of the blockbuster tournament in October.

The T20 World Cup will be held in Australia for the first time in October, with the Aussies given a chance to defend their maiden crown, won in the UAE last year, on home soil.

After travelling to the likes of Papua New Guinea, Finland and Scotland, the trophy returned to Australia for a layover.

Tournament ambassadors Shane Watson and Scott Boland were on hand for the photos but were hardly needed as the polished metal shone in the falling son of Australia’s heartland.

Local kids also got the chance to hit the iconic red dirt for backyard-style games with the Aussie cricketers.

The trophy will travel across four continents and is off to Bali and Tokyo next before hitting Broome on August 26 and Perth for three days across August 27 to 29.

It will eventually finish at Geelong on October 16, right before the tournament starts.

Perth will host five games, including one Australian match and a primetime showdown between South Africa and India.

England will also feature against Afghanistan at Optus Stadium.

The competition was initially scheduled for Australia in 2020 but was postponed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
