The 60th edition of the Country Football Championships will be headlined by a cracking division one of senior competition, as South West chase a cherished three-peat and Great Southern make their long-awaited return to the top flight.

Great Southern were promoted on the back of two sensational years, winning the division three grand final in 2024 before an upset win over Upper Great Southern in last year’s division two decider.
Captain Isaac Baum said his side is ready for the step up the top level.
“We’re really excited. This is what we’ve been aiming for, is to just to show the leagues that the GSFL is a division one competition, and that we have the cattle down there to play good footy,” he said.
“We are the the bottom team, or the team that’s coming up, so we definitely want to play our brand of footy and play for each other, play together, and the rest will take care of itself.”
After last year’s grand final defeat, Peel are hungry to make amends, according to Luca Gangemi.
“We had our presentations (Wednesday), and it was spoken about how we’ve been so close the last few years, and I think this year is the year that everyone really wants to get it done,” he said.

Upper Great Southern, Central Midlands Coastal, Eastern Districts, Ongerup and Lower South West will do battle in a highly-intriguing division two.
Division three is made up of North Pilbara, Central Wheatbelt, Hills, Mortlock and North Midlands.
The top two sides in each division will then face off in their respective grand finals at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday.

Great Northern are looking for their first colts division one title since 2015, coming up against powerhouses South West in the decider, who have won five titles since that day.
An unbeaten Great Southern Storm will face up against the West Pilbara Pythons in the colts division two grand final.
The Storm were irresistible on the opening day as they beat Kimberley by 17 points and then backed it up with strong wins over Mortlock-Avon and then West Pilbara.
Across the championships there will be 39 matches played at six venues, with more than 600 players and 60 umpires participating.
