Several former AFLW players are seeking a second chance in Wednesday’s AFLW draft, headlined by delisted Docker Sabreena Duffy.

Former Fremantle and West Coast players Ashlee Atkins, Beatrice Devlyn, Tiah Toth and Duffy have all nominated for the Western Australian draft pool.

Duffy, a former Fremantle leading goal kicker and All-Australian squad member, is the most credentialed of the group.

The 22-year-old was moved to Fremantle’s inactive list ahead of the 2022 season after receiving a promotion with her employer the Department of Justice.

Despite taking time away from the game, Duffy was initially hopeful of returning to football once she had achieved a greater work-life balance.

The Dockers officially delisted Duffy earlier this month but the former rising star nominee is eager to earn another AFLW opportunity.

Since recovering from a foot operation earlier this year, Duffy returned to play three games for Peel Thunder, winning 26 disposals in Peel’s finals loss to Swan Districts last weekend.

Atkins has averaged nearly 19 disposals and kicked seven goals since being delisted by West Coast at the end of last season.

Toth has been in strong form for Subiaco since being delisted by Fremantle.

Former Docker and Eagle Beatrice Devlyn moved to South Australia this year to join West Adelaide in the SANFLW, under the watch of AFLW expansion outfit Port Adelaide, but will look for another chance in WA.
