Subiaco Oval light towers removed as demolition works ramp up

Staff writersThe West Australian
VideoThe final siren sounded at Subiaco Oval for the last time, as bulldozers prepare to roll into the former home of football, with more than 100 years of history.

After standing as a recognisable part of the metro area skyline for more than two decades, Subiaco Oval’s light towers are biting the dust.

Works are continuing today to remove the lights and towers from the disused footy ground as the demolition job at the venue ramps up.

The light towers were first used at Subiaco Oval in 1997, allowing night footy to be played away from the WACA Ground for the first time.
