A SNAPSHOT OF ROUND FIVE OF THE 2021 AFLW SEASON

THEY SAID IT: "They're the best team we've played against so far. We'll aspire to function the way they are at the moment." - Melbourne coach Mick Stinear was full of praise for unbeaten Collingwood after the Magpies kept the Demons to one goal in a 35-point thrashing.

STATS THAT MATTER: 11 - That's what Fremantle's record winning streak stood at before the Brisbane Lions gatecrashed the party with an upset win on Saturday. The Dockers' most recent loss before that was to Carlton in the 2019 preliminary final.

PLAYER OF THE ROUND: Jasmine Garner had the ball on a string in North Melbourne's crucial victory over Carlton, racking up 32 possessions - the most in the Kangaroos' AFLW history - and also slotting a goal.

KEY MOMENT: After 386 days and 11 matches, Richmond emphatically broke through for their first-ever AFLW victory. The Tigers smashed the drought by surging past Geelong, singing the song loud and proud on the Cats' home ground.

TALKING POINT: Carlton entered the season as equal premiership favourites but the Blues' flag dreams already appear shot after slumping to a 2-3 record. They face an uphill battle to even make finals but will get some respite next week they host the struggling Cats at Ikon Park.

KEY INJURIES: Deanna Berry (Western Bulldogs, knee), Olivia Purcell (Geelong, knee), Jordan Membrey (Collingwood, knee), Tayla Bresland (West Coast, hamstring)

WHAT'S NEXT: The clear match of round six takes place next Sunday when undefeated Collingwood host the red-hot Western Bulldogs (4-1) at Victoria Park. With Western Australia's strict border stance causing havoc with the fixture, Fremantle will battle West Coast in the second derby of the season.
