Hawthorn star Jack Ginnivan has car stolen on eve of blockbuster clash in South Australia

Hawthorn star Jack Ginnivan’s car has been stolen, with the 23-year-old discovering the missing vehicle just as he was preparing to fly to Adelaide on Friday for the AFL’s Gather Round.
It’s understood the car in question is a grey Nissan, and was stolen from Ginnivan’s home in Richmond.
Ginnivan was still in Melbourne when the car was stolen overnight, despite Hawthorn being scheduled to play against the Western Bulldogs at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
It’s unclear whether thieves were aware the car belonged to Ginnivan — and were hoping to pounce while all 18 teams convene in South Australia.
In a statement on Friday, police said they were investigating after the car was stolen in Richmond overnight.
“It’s understood the grey 2025 Nissan Patrol was stolen from (his) street sometime between 6pm on Thursday April 9 and 9.30am on Friday April 10,” the statement said.
“A report was made to the Police Assistance Line, and the matter is now being investigated.”
Anyone with information is being urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Ginnivan is enjoying a career-best season this year, averaging a 19.5 disposals and over a goal a game.
He has also been lauded for his football smarts and often talks tactics on the Titch & Ginni Show, his podcast with retired Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell.
“He’s got a very good footy mind, and I understand why he’s doing that,” coach Sam Mitchell recently said on Channel 7’s The Agenda Setters.
Mitchell said Ginnivan had a future in either coaching or on television as an expert AFL analyst.
As well as his high footy IQ, Ginnivan is a human headline in the AFL.
He controversially departed Collingwood at the end of 2023 after appearing in their premiership team, joining Hawthorn for the 2024 season.
After that 2023 grand final, Collingwood coach Craig McRae told Ginnivan to “read the room”, unimpressed that the forward had been spotted at the races on the eve of the big game.
“You’ve got to grow up, but you’ve got to make mistakes to learn from them,” McRae said at the time, only for Ginnivan to be traded soon after.
He also makes headlines for his cheeky goal celebrations, social media activity, and his maligned act of collapsing his knees in a tackle to earn a free kick.
After Opening Round this year, Ginnivan was again in the news, slapped on the wrist by the AFL for wearing a ring under a glove during the Hawks’ defeat to GWS.
