Another lucky West Aussie family has won a golden ticket to the biggest event of the year.

Diane Edwards, 67, said she was in disbelief when she opened her copy of The West Australian to find she had won entry for herself and her family to Saturday’s grand final.

“I rang my husband straight away and told him the good news. I just couldn’t believe it and neither could he — he said ‘I’m in’ straight away,” Ms Edwards said.

“I rang my mum afterwards and she was beside herself, she was just so excited for us.

“I’m just in disbelief, stuff like this doesn’t happen to us. There are so many people and so few tickets ... I’m just shocked,” she said.

Ms Edwards will take her husband, 65, and their twin sons, 34, to the historic match.

The Carine family are usually die-hard Fremantle Dockers fans, but will back Melbourne to win against the Western Bulldogs.

“They (her sons) are really looking forward to it. None of us have been to a grand final before so it will be amazing,” Ms Edwards said.

The former English teacher said her family “didn’t bother to buy tickets last week because we just knew we wouldn’t get them.”

“We haven’t been away in a long time so this will be just lovely. We are really looking forward to it and very excited,” she said.

“I would just like to thank The West for this lovely opportunity.”
