Perth weather: City’s cold snap continues as temperatures plunge again

Perth has endured another bitterly cold morning, with temperatures plunging close to freezing across the metro area as the city shivers through one of its coldest starts to winter.

The mercury fell to just 3.1C in Perth at 6.46am on Friday, with Jandakot hitting a near-freezing 1C at 5.14am.

Millendon in the Swan Valley wasn’t much warmer, recording 1.1C at 7.45am, while Pearce bottomed out at 1C at 7.32am.

Perth Airport dipped to 4.3C just after midnight.

Friday’s icy start follows Thursday’s coldest morning of the year, when Perth fell to 3C and Jandakot recorded a frigid 0.5C.

The city has now endured a run of mornings of unusually cold conditions, with temperatures well below those recorded during the past two winters.

The last time it was colder in the Perth metro area was June 27, 2023, when Jandakot recorded 0.7C.

By comparison, the lowest Perth temperature in June 2025 was 3.7C, while in 2024 the city’s coldest morning was 4.5C.
