Although parts of Perth have had almost a month’s worth a rain in the past week, the city managed to escape Cyclone Seroja’s path of destruction.

Damaging winds and heavy rainfall had been predicted for Perth, but was scrapped by the Bureau of Meteorology on Monday morning.

“Severe Weather Warning for south eastern WA cancelled,” Bureau of Meteorology advice at 11am read.

“The remnants of Seroja have moved offshore near Esperance, winds and rain have eased. Showers and gusty winds continue but not expected to be severe.”

In the past week Perth saw 19.4 millimetres of rain, Jandakot recorded 26 millimetres, Bickley 26 millimetres and Rottnest a whopping 28 millimetres.

The average total April rainfall for Perth is 30 millimetres.

“It’s been a pretty wet week,” Hilary Wilson from the Bureau of Meteorology said.

“But we haven’t seen any intense periods of rain or flooding which is good.”

Ms Wilson said all Perth’s rainfall was related to Tropical Cyclone Seroja.

The weather is expected to turn on Monday afternoon, with the reminder of the week predicted to be mild and dry.
