Agriculture Minister Alannah MacTiernan will join The West Live this morning to discuss the threat of further WA exports being impacted by rising tensions between Australia and China.

West Australian producers have increasingly found themselves on the front line of an Australian-Chinese trade dispute in recent months after the fallout over the coronavirus, Hong Kong and foreign interference.

Trade tensions between the two countries intensified when Prime Minister Scott Morrison backed a push for an international investigation into the origins of COVID-19.

WA’s billion-dollar barley industry was among the first hit, before China launched further trade action against Australian beef, coal and cotton exports — and there are fears Australian sugar and copper could also be dragged into the dispute.
