Get those beach towels and the sunscreen at the ready.

Perth is set for another summer scorcher next week, cracking 40C for the first time this year.

The bureau is forecasting the heat to kick off on Monday with a high of 37C before 40C hits on Tuesday.

The last time Perth saw a day that hot was less than a month ago, when there were multiple days in a row over 40 degrees over Christmas.

With a run in the high twenties to finish off this week, it won’t be long before the famous Perth heat kicks in again.

And with over two weeks left of the school holidays, families will be able to get out and make the most of the sunshine.
