As the sun began to rise over Western Australia, many communities from our regional towns and cities paid their respects to the Anzacs and all those who served in conflict.

In Albany at the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial — considered the second most recognised Anzac memorial site in the world — WA police commissioner Col Blanch and the city mayor Greg Stocks laid wreaths at the packed-out service.

Heading up the coast to the South West, an impressive 8000 people rugged up at Busselton’s Rotary Park of Remembrance to honour the city’s Anzac tradition.

In WA’s Mid West, 4000 people turned out for an emotional service in Geraldton and meanwhile in Kalgoorlie, comedian Kevin Bloody Wilson attended the city’s dawn service.

The 79-year-old performer gifted a two-up kip to the Kalgoorlie RSL made from wood from the Lone Pine planted at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance in 1933.
