All 10,000 ‘Wander Out Yonder’ holiday vouchers sell out in just four minutes

All 10,000 Wander Out Yonder travel vouchers have been snapped up by West Australians - in less than four minutes.

At 10am this morning, the voucher-sign up link went live. By 10:04am, the site told would-be tourists: “sorry, you’ve missed out for now!”

“Unfortunately, all 10,000 Wander Vouchers have already been snapped up”

However, the site assured visitors that they could submit their details to be notified if more vouchers become available.

Premier Mark McGowan announced the $100 vouchers on Thursday at tourist attraction Rockingham Wild Encounters.

Each can be used to gain a $100 discount on a variety of different experiences - including wine tours, fishing charters, and aboriginal cultural tours - as long as the voucher-holder spends at least $100 themselves.

Mr McGowan announced the $1 million initiative as part of the Government’s Wander Out Yonder campaign.

“We’ve seen a massive expansion in the number of people holidaying around WA — and our hotels, restaurants and bars are doing very well,” said Mr McGowan, speaking at tourist attraction Rockingham Wild Encounters.

“But we want to also share the love, and make sure that experience tourism businesses get Western Australians coming in.”

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said he wasn’t surprised the vouchers went so quickly.

“Western Australians have been quick to use their Wander Vouchers, with the WA Visitor Centre already receiving a number of bookings this morning.

“It is terrific that our tour and experience businesses will soon begin enjoying the benefits of the promotion’s outstanding success. As well as a $2m direct injection into the industry, the campaign has helped put the spotlight on the diverse range of tours and experiences available around WA.

“For those who missed out this time, Tourism WA is working on future initiatives and incentives to support our tourism industry as part of the Wander out Yonder campaign, which we look forward to sharing soon.”
