Juniors and seniors club together under a united banner

The Boyanup Hockey Club’s impressive record looks set to continue, with the junior and senior clubs set to operate under the same banner.

With a desire to forge a pathway between junior and senior level competition, it is hoped development and coaching will be enhanced.

Senior president Anita Scott believes the move will be positive.

“The decision by the club to formalise the inclusion of our junior group is a great outcome and a really positive step forward,” she said.

“We all play for the same club, wear the same colours, so it makes sense to all be part of the same club. “It’ll provide the juniors with the security of being covered by an incorporated body and also great opportunities such as grant funding, player registration, sharing resources and roles.”

Junior co-ordinator Russell Attwood is excited about the venture as well. “I think it is really good in the fact there is now one clear pathway,” he said. “There is no disconnect, no us versus them — it is all one club.

“From a social and environmental perspective it is pretty good and centralising it all just streamlines everything, which makes things easier.”
