Roses seem to be on the menu today as Bunbury florists have orders flying out the door.

Bunbury florists said Valentine’s Day was their single busiest day of the year as lovebirds hurried to get their flowers, whereas Mother’s Day was also very busy but across a three to four day period.

Bunbury Flower Place owner Treena Jarvis said Valentine’s Day was usually a “mad rush”.

Ms Jarvis joked the team prepared for the day with no sleep and constant work.

For Bunbury Flower Place, red roses were this year’s top pick.

“The last few years have been mix flowers but this year is definitely red roses,” Ms Jarvis said.

At Fleurs of Bunbury, store co-owner Alison Catelan found it was “probably 50-50 between all roses and then mixed arrangements as well”.

Ms Catelan said Valentine’s Day involved a lot of preparation.

“We take records each year and go off those records and estimate what we’ll think we’ll need and go from there,” she said.
