New park bench gifted in recognition of Karlkurla Nature Playground being finalist in Tidy Town awards
A colourful new park bench looking over Karlkurla Nature Playground has been gifted to the community in recognition of the project being a strong contender in the recent Tidy Towns awards.
The park bench, featuring artwork by Linzi Carter, was donated by real estate firm Natsales in recognition of the project which contributed to Kalgoorlie-Boulder being a finalist in four categories in this year’s awards, as well as a State finalist.
While the city did not win, Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group chief executive Kim Eckert — who entered the city in the competition — said the community was a strong contender across nine categories.
She said the bench fit perfectly in the park environment and she was grateful for the donation.
“The nature playground is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through strong collaboration between State Government, local government, industry and our community, creating a space for everyone to enjoy for years to come,” she said.
City deputy mayor Terrence Winner said the bench not only gave a good view of the playground, but also of the town’s stunning sunsets as well.
“It is in a fantastic location and looking out you get to see the result of all the hard work that went into achieving this fantastic win for the community,” he said.
“The city was thrilled to be able to partner with the State Government and local community groups to be able to achieve such a great outcome for our community and this recognition is wonderful.”
