La Fiamma defeat Yanchep to earn first win of the season
Ugle Fabrications’ La Fiamma have claimed their first win of the season, defeating Yanchep United FC 4-2 in the State Amateur League on Sunday in a fiery contest.
Tom Mitic opened the scoring for the Reds, after a nice passing move unlocked the Yanchep defence.
Shortly after halftime UF La Fiamma goalkeeper Jack Pirone gave away a penalty and Yanchep duly converted to get back into the game.
They were back in front soon after as Kumbi Dzoma scored a double, adding the second and third goals for the Reds.
With 20 minutes to go Yanchep scored their second goal to keep the game interesting.
However, a misplaced back pass from Yanchep gifted the ball to Nicolas Mihura who went past the keeper to seal the game for La Fiamma.
Things went from bad to worse for Yanchep as their captain Daniel Kimberly was sent off for a second yellow card offence.
It was not the return Kimberely would have been hoping for having previously played for La Fiamma.
The Reds would go on to win the game, earning their first three points of the year.
La Fiamma will now face Noranda City FC in round four of the State Amateur League on Sunday, May 8.
