Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Kennedy Park reopened after $120,000 upgrade
One of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s most loved playgrounds has been reopened after much-needed replacements to worn-out equipment and matting.
The upgrade to Kennedy Park — which is managed by EPIC Goldfields — was funded by an $80,000 election commitment from Kalgoorlie MLA Ali Kent and a further $40,000 from Super Pit owner Northern Star Resources.
EPIC regional operational manager Sarsha Lander said she was incredibly grateful for the investment in Kennedy Park.
“Over the years, the park has been well loved by so many families, and so many people you will meet will talk of fond memories of their children and their grandchildren playing here,” she said.
“We know how important safe, accessible play spaces are for children of all abilities and we rely on strong community and government partnerships to deliver projects like this that make a real difference.”
Ms Kent said the park was one of the few that was fully fenced, which provided peace of mind for parents with toddlers and young children.
“This funding means we can deliver a safe, modern and inviting space that the whole community can enjoy,” she said.
“Local residents and parents were consulted both online and on-site at Kennedy Park to understand what improvements were needed, and this commitment delivers on those priorities.”
