Geraldton police arrest 42yo man after allegedly dragging partner on street and punching her in the face

Geraldton police have arrested a man after a woman was allegedly beat up and dragged across the street at an address in Geraldton on Monday morning. Geraldton police attended an address on the crossroads of Waldeck St and Dorothy St on Monday, May 29 about 8am and allegedly located a 42-year-old woman hiding in a bedroom. Acting officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Andrew Ramsden said police will allege a verbal argument occurred between a couple and items were thrown about in the kitchen area. After the woman moved outside, police said a 42-year-old man allegedly punched the woman in the face and as she attempted to run inside he dragged her out on to the street by her hands and arms. The female was allegedly thrown to the ground and the male continued to punch her several more times to the face. Sen. Sgt Ramsden said a witness intervened to stop the assault and contacted police. A 42-year-old woman required medical treatment for severe swelling to her face. A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm. He is due to appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court on June 22. 1800 RESPECT 1800 737 732
