Geraldton drug and alcohol worker James Brockman pleads guilty to two charges over drug trafficking scheme

A Geraldton father and drug and alcohol support worker has pleaded guilty to his involvement in a drug trafficking scheme, becoming the first of his co-accused to do so. James Alexander Brockman appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Monday from custody where he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess cannabis with the intent to sell or supply, and the possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property. The 50-year-old is an Aboriginal services officer with Midwest Mental Health and Community Alcohol and Drug Service, which is run by the WA Country Health Service and funded by the Mental Health Commission. Brockman’s daughter Khyteesha Shai Anne Cross and her partner Joshua Raymond Delacy were arrested after Geraldton detectives allegedly seized about 3.8kg of cannabis during a traffic stop in Deepdale in May. Brockman was later taken into custody after police uncovered $11,050 in cash at the 50-year-old’s Wandina home. The young couple were released on bail after being charged with possession of cannabis with the intent to sell, but Brockman remains behind bars on remand. Ms Cross is permitted to speak to her father by phone, with all calls out of Greenough Regional Prison monitored by authorities. Brockman’s sentencing date has been set for September 14 with a psychological report to be prepared in the meantime.
