Geraldton & Districts Senior Citizens Action Group enjoy lunch with mayor Jerry Clune

The latest bowling tournament, which is a bit different from the usual tournaments, was sponsored by City of Greater Geraldton mayor Jerry Clune. Forty-eight members participated in teams of three. The winning group was the under 79 years and each person received a money prize, presented by Mr Clune at the competition along with a shield. A recent raffle was held and proceeds of $500 was presented by president Trevor Hansen to Rose Ann Jupp, representing the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Ms Jupp said they were very grateful for the support of the Seniors Action Group who have held a yearly raffle for this cause for many years. The guest speaker at our recent lunch meeting was Mr Clune, who came into this position in October 2023. He has been on the council for over 10 years and served as deputy mayor for two. Mr Clune spoke on his early life on the farm, as well as his interests in local sport and the Bush Fire Brigade. There is 41,000 people in the Greater Geraldton area. Mining is our biggest export with farming and fishing following. He talked about several approved developments in the city and members had the opportunity to ask questions. A delicious lunch of crumbed fish, chips and salad was served following by sweets of cake with lemon curd and blueberries and ice-cream. Thanks to our lovely caterers.
