High school bound

Starting High School is an exciting time for all students, and Year 6 children across Karratha took their first steps towards it last week at the Next Step Conference.

The conference is an annual event where all Karratha students in their final year of primary school visit the Karratha Senior High School to take part in a series of activities and workshops.

The event was held last Thursday at Karratha Senior High School and Karratha Leisureplex with sessions ranging from fitness, team building and drama to learning about mental health, bullying and what students can expect from Year 7.

Year 6 student Rory Mulgrew, 11, said it was an exciting day, involving lots of activities.

“We did different activities like we made a thing that we had to drop with an egg in it and we had to make the egg not crack,” he said.

Year 6 student Ava Gibson, 11, said they also went around the school and met new people and future classmates.

She said she was looking forward to starting high school next year and making new friends.
