Last Wednesday night Karratha hockey players experienced a spot of rain and some cool temperatures.

In a slight change of format it was decided to merge the usual four teams into two large teams.

A full-size field was needed and it made for a great game of hockey.

Some of the fitter players were able to exploit the extra space and open up gaps in the opposition defences.

Sarah McQueen was in good form for the Yellow team and used the ball well to create many chances in front of goal.

Damian Lalor was solid in defence for Yellow and combined with Craig Leknys to shut down many opposition attacks.

Tim Russell also played well in his first game of hockey in Karratha.

Blue had several big hitters in their line-up which proved handy on the bigger field.

Tim Ballantyne and Lachlan Seabrook regularly passed balls across the width of the field which often left the Yellow team scrambling.

In a tight tussle it was Blue who came out on top 8-6.

Horizon Power has agreed to provide Karratha Hockey with a digital scoreboard.

Karratha Hockey runs a mixed competition every Wednesday night with games from 7pm. New players get their first game free.
