Meatloaf once infamously said ‘I would do anything for love’ — but the American rocker likely didn’t expect that to include a citizen’s arrest outside a Perth bottle shop.
Adam Breen was in a checkout line at Dan Murphy’s in Carine on Saturday when he witnessed an alleged car jacker attempting to flee in a stolen vehicle.
Fortunately, the thief forgot to take off the hand brake on the allegedly stolen Mazda — giving Breen the chance to dramatically chase and restrain them until police arrived on the scene.
Footage of the wild escapade has gone viral online, with the heroic man’s efforts now making national news.
In a new interview with Sunrise, the tradie has revealed there was one special girl that motivated him to commit the act of heroism.
“There was quite a good-looking girl that was watching on . . . it made things a bit easier,” he revealed to hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington on Wednesday.
“There was a girl that was recording next to me, and I was like ‘ Oh, she’d probably like this’.”
The revelation clearly stunned the Sunrise team, who wanted to know more about how things unfolded with the mystery lady after police arrived at the scene.
When pressed on whether things with the girl ended well, the Perth man had a simple reply: “I fumbled that one.”
“She asked me to send her the video and I airdropped it to her, which . . . I should have asked for her Instagram, really,” he explained.
The tradie made sure to use his newfound virality for good, using his national TV cameo to make a plea to the unknown woman: “If she’s watching, hit me up.”
Viewers of the show have already flooded the comments in search for the mystery woman.
“We need to find this bottle shop girl,” one person commented.
“This could’ve made such a good love story,” another wrote.
“Has he found her yet??” a third comment queried.
The woman has yet to publicly come forward, but it’s clear the Australian public are hoping for a happy ending for the Perth hero.
