Police divers have recovered a body believed to be that of missing free diver Matthew Phillips, who disappeared more than three weeks ago.

Water Police recovered the body from water off Lancelin Beach on Sunday, after a swimmer made the grim discovery on Saturday.

Mr Phillips, 49, was last seen at his home in the northern coastal suburb of Sorrento on the morning of November 12.

Police launched an extensive marine search for the father of two after they located his car in Lancelin and found an empty diving bag inside.

The body has not yet been formally identified, but Police said Mr Phillips’ family had been notified of the development.
