You might not be able to walk on water, but now you can ride on water thanks to a local Rockingham man.

Baguio Sports owner John Baguio has claimed the title of WA’s only distributor of the world’s first Manta5 Hydrofoiler XE-1 water bike that has been making waves around the country.

“It was last year when one of the distributors was looking for an ambassador and while they were searching I enquired about it,” Mr Baguio said.

“When I told them that I was only 20 meters from the water, they knew that I was the perfect guy and we had a connection straight away.

“I told them that if I was going to become the ambassador I wanted to be the only one from Fremantle to Mandurah with this bike, and they said yes.

“Then they told me that I could be the dealer for the bikes as well, and I said that if I was going to do that, then I wanted to be the only one in Western Australia, and they said yes to that too.”

Mr Baguio said he hopes being the only dealer of the bike will help to put Rockingham and the community on the map.

“It’s the world’s first hydrofoil e-bike, it’s run by lithium batteries and can only be found in Rockingham. That was my biggest thing, I wanted to help put Rockingham on the map,” he said.

“I’ve ridden it and it’s so much fun and really quick. It only weighs 20kgs so you just pick it up, bring it down to the water, assemble it and then off you go.”

To rent out the e-Bike, prices start at $180 for an hour and a half rental period.

“We are looking at having all the insurance and things ready by Australia Day, so we’re aiming to be using it on the water here in Rockingham and people can try it out for themselves and see how great it is.“
