Beaufort River crash: Woman killed in Albany Hwy crash, second woman airlifted to Perth with critical injuries

A woman has died after a car crash on Albany Highway in Beaufort River, with a second woman flown to Perth with critical injuries. Emergency services were called to Beaufort River just after 1pm on Tuesday after a white Toyota LandCruiser ute and yellow Suzuki SX4 station sedan collided near the intersection of Youngs Road in the Shire of Woodanilling. The 55-year-old female driver of the Suzuki sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. The RAC Rescue helicopter was deployed just before 2pm and transported a 26-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Suzuki, to Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition. Both women were initially trapped in their car with multiple Department of Fire and Emergency Services crews working to free them before the chopper arrived. The 18-year-old driver of the Toyota was taken to Kojonup Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
